A regular says: "As a Ukrainian refugee who has found sanctuary in this community, I cannot overstate the impact this church has had on my life and the lives of my family. When the war in Ukraine forced us to flee our homeland, we were lost and in desperate need of support. Aylesham Baptist Church, particularly through the kindness of its members, provided us with not only a place to live but also a lifeline during our darkest days."
"One of the church members, Lizzy, welcomed our family into her home, helped us navigate daily life in a new country, and provided continuous emotional support, which was crucial for our mental well-being and adaptation. Attending services and various church groups, such as the Renew 61 initiative, has been a source of comfort and stability for us. This church has become our second family, especially since our Ukrainian family members are scattered across the globe or unable to leave Ukraine. The community here understands our struggles and offers a sanctuary where we can connect with kind-hearted peple, receive guidance and solace from the church minister and other members, and participate in activities that uplift our spirits. Renew 61, in particular, has been a beacon of hope. This group, with its ethos of “it is okay to be not okay,” provides a safe space where we can simply be, whether we need silent reflection, engaging conversation, or just the comfort of knowing we are not alone. It has been instrumental in helping us cope with our trauma and anxiety, offering a supportive environment where we can feel needed and find relief. Without this church and its facilities, I truly do not know how we would manage. The physical space of Aylesham Baptist Church is not just a building; it is the heart of our community, a place where we find peace, connection, and support."
